We would like to give an extra special shout out to our client, Providore, for their new café that will be opening in the Portland Art Museum this September! The café will be called Coquelico (ko-KLEE-koh), which comes from the French word for a reddish-orange poppy flower – the color palette of which the artist Mark Rothko uses in many of his featured pieces at the newly renovated museum.
Coquelico will be a modern European bistro located in the museum’s brand new West Plaza, and will offer a wide array of delicious and inventive dishes for both breakfast and lunch. Kaie Wellman and Kevin de Garmo, the owners of Providore, are passionate about food and culture, and look forward to the opportunity to partner with the Portland Art Museum. “Museums are the cultural hubs of cities, and for us to be a part of the next chapter of PAM is super exciting,” Wellman said about the new location. Kaie and Kevin are excited to play role in the revitalization of downtown Portland.
P&B is a proud supporter of Providore, and we cannot wait for Coquelico’s opening. Slated to open in mid-September, we encourage everyone to go check it out as soon as possible! The rest of the renovated art museum is scheduled to open on November 20th.
